Spin Master has acquired the Toca Boca and Sago Mini companies from the Bonnier Group of Sweden. The transaction will close on May 2. Toca Boca has released 32 apps in 215 countries since its launch in 2011, and Sago Mini has released 16 apps that have been downloaded more than 13 million times.
Toca Boca is also in the early stages of developing Toca TV, a subscription-based TV channel. Toca TV will include curated and safe videos, exclusive Toca Boca content, and interactive features. Spin Master intends to continue to build on this and other initiatives, including a toy line for both Toca Boca and Sago Mini.
The announcement follows on Spin Master’s recent purchases of Cardinal Games, Editrice Giochi SRL, Etch A Sketch, and Doodle Sketch.
