There’s a changing of the guard at SYBO as the company has appointed Philip Hickey as its new chief marketing officer.
Hickey will join the team in Copenhagen. With the company’s hit mobile game, Subway Surfers, continuing to top the charts for its 11th consecutive year, Hickey will present innovative marketing opportunities for the company to expand its games into the puzzle category. Hickey previously served on the marketing teams for Seriously Digital Entertainment and Rovio, where he led creative strategies in developing Angry Birds and Best Fiends.
“It feels like a natural step change for us to bring someone as strong as Phil, already having worked with both Naz Amarchi-Cuevas and with David Byrne, who serves as our chief operating officer and head of games, while they were at Rovio,” says Mathias Gredal Nørvig, CEO, SYBO.
In addition to Hickey’s hiring, Amarchi-Cuevas will be stepping down from her position as chief commercial officer for Subway Surfers at the end of the year.
“Naz has been fundamental to SYBO’s growth story,” Nørvig says. “Her leadership, business acumen, and keen understanding of the entertainment space has no doubt been one of the driving factors in our worldwide continued success.”
SYBO will continue its operations in a new office in Copenhagen. The company hopes to add new talent to its team and reach 200 employees by the end of 2023.
