Bandai Namco Toys & Collectibles America (BNTCA) introduces the latest version of its virtual pet brand, Tamagotchi. While the aesthetic and concept remain the same, this version has exciting new twists.
The new device is Tamagotchi Paradise. For the first time, players will go on an interstellar journey. Users will participate in not only their pet’s life, but also their pet’s planet.
A feature unique to this model compared to previous models is the dial on the side of the device. The dial can be used to scroll in and out on the screen, letting users experience their virtual pet and Tamagotchi Planet from micro and macro perspectives. Users can nurture 12 unique species and create more than 50,000 potential characters based on genetic traits passed down from the creature’s “parents.” Players will be able to nurture Tamagotchi through generations.
“With the launch of this device, we are redefining the Tamagotchi experience by offering a groundbreaking level of interactivity that allows users to engage with their Tamagotchi characters in ways never before imagined,” says Tara Badie, Bandai Namco Toys & Collectibles America, Senior Director Brand Strategy. “From zooming in to observe their growth to cultivating an entire planet, Tamagotchi Paradise takes the beloved franchise to new heights and promises to deliver an unmatched sense of joy and discovery for each of our fans.”
There are three shell designs: Pink Land, Blue Water, and Purple Sky. Each represents a different part of the planet.
The Tamagotchi Paradise costs $44.99 and is available in North America at a few major retailers. These include Amazon (U.S. and Canada), HEB, EB Games, and other specialty stores. Soon, the virtual pets will be at Walmart, Barnes & Noble, and Macy’s. For more information, visit tamagotchi-official.com.
