The classic game Tetris is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a full lineup of licensing partnerships.

The brand’s licensing plans include new games, apparel, toys, collectibles, and more. The Tetris Co. also has plans for events, future announcements, and other initiatives for fans of the iconic game.

The enduring appeal of Tetris lies in its simplicity: [It's] easy to play and highly intuitive, making it accessible to everyone. As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, we are humbled by the continued growth of our fan base.
— Maya Rogers, CEO of Tetris

Tetris and Rubik’s Cube will celebrate anniversaries together with a co-branded Rubik’s Cube from Spin Master. A Tetris co-branded World’s Smallest Rubik’s Cube from Super Impulse will hit collection shelves as well.

Partnering with fellow leading video game, Tetris will be the first branded add-on on the Minecraft Marketplace. Minecraft players will be able to access Tetris-themed armor, weapons, monsters, and more. Plans also include a full Tetris x Minecraft DLC launch on July 30.

ModRetro has also developed its own Tetris game offering, with both retro and modern modes. The game comes bundled with any preorders of ModRetro’s Chromatic handheld gaming device.

Other collaborations for the brand include commemorative coins from Apme, a Tetris Mini gaming device from Supreme, two Tetris-branded bags from Sprayground, and a revamp to the Tetris app from playSTUDIOS. The Tetris Co. will also host the 15th annual Classic Tetris World Championship on June 7-9.

Tetris is a video game that has withstood the test of time for 40 years. The game was created by Alexey Pajitnov in 1984, and despite modern advances in gaming, it maintains popularity with players across the globe. Tetris has sold more than 520 million units worldwide, and still releases fresh offerings like 2019’s Tetris 99 on Nintendo Switch.

“Looking ahead, we are excited to continue evolving Tetris for future generations. We aim to innovate while preserving the core elements that have made Tetris timeless, ensuring it remains a beloved and relevant part of the gaming world for years to come,” says Rogers.
