Toy history is hitting the road with a charitable spin.
The Nacelle Co. — producers of Netflix’s The Toys That Made Us, The Movies That Made Us, and the multiplatform A Toy Store Near You — acquired the North American distribution rights for Action Figure Adventure, a documentary road trip series from the director of Power of Grayskull: The Definitive History of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
“Action Figure Adventure showcases the life-changing power of toys and the incredible generosity of the toy community across ten rollercoaster ride episodes, says series Director Rob McCallum. “We couldn’t script the insane moments that happened along the way, but everyone gets to see them.”
The first season of the series follows toy collector Jay Bartlett as he makes his way across North America on a mission to build an epic collection of action figures that will be auctioned off for charity. Along the way, Bartlett stops at toy stores, special events, and drops in on Rancho Obi-Wan and Power-Con, the annual convention for fans of Masters of the Universe. Bartlett says that while the toys are great, it’s the people that matter most.
“I believe the toy community is one of the most-tight knit communities around and Action Figure Adventure does a fantastic job at showcasing the amazing individuals that help make toy collecting such a joyful hobby,” comments Brian Volk-Weiss, founder and CEO of The Nacelle Co.
The first season of Action Figure Adventure is now streaming through The Nacelle Co.’s hybrid distribution system that consists of Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Spectrum, Comcast, Dish, Google Play, DirecTV, Vimeo, YouTube, and more.
