The Toy Building opened its doors earlier this week to kick off LA Fall Toy Previews in El Segundo.

The Toy Association held a grand opening ceremony yesterday for its new West Coast toy hub: The Toy Building. The debut coincides with the beginning of LA Fall Preview Market Weeks in El Segundo, California.

The Toy Building houses four floors of year-round showrooms in which industry professionals can network, take meetings, and more. The space will serve as a place for international and local businesses of all sizes to showcase product, highlight emerging trends, and make connections with buyers, licensors, and others. The current lineup includes Hasbro, The LEGO Group, Crayola, Funko, Playmobil, Crazy Aaron’s, Faber-Castell, and more.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony welcomed industry leaders and distinguished guests including Chris Pimentel, Mayor of El Segundo, who presented an official certificate and delivered remarks; Melissa Ramoso, representative for California Assembly; member Al Muratsuchi, who also presented a certificate; Deputy El Segundo City Manager Barbara Voss; Samantha Gallegos, district representative from Senator Ben Allen’s office; and other members of the El Segundo City Council and Chamber of Commerce.

Over the next few weeks, more than 200 companies will preview fall collections at The Toy Building as well as the wider, surrounding Toy District.

“The strategic opening of The Toy Building further establishes Southern California as a key hub for international trade, innovation, and business in the toy and play sector — a $100 billion [plus] global industry that supports tens of thousands of U.S. jobs across design, manufacturing, distribution, and retail,” says Greg Ahearn, President and CEO of The Toy Association. “The Toy Building provides toy manufacturers from around the globe the opportunity to establish a West Coast presence, helping businesses to work together and thrive, making El Segundo’s Toy District an economically important and growing part of the L.A. business landscape.”

LA Fall Preview Market Weeks will run now through Sept. 19. For more information about The Toy Building, visit toyassociation.org/lafallpreview.
