Earlier this month, the president and CEO of the Toy Industry Association (TIA), Steve Pasierb, visited U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) headquarters in Bethesda, Md., to discuss issues affecting the toy industry. According to the TIA, Pasierb and TIA staff met individually with Chairman Elliot Kaye and each of the agency’s four commissioners—Robert Adler, Marietta Robinson, Ann Marie Buerkle, and Joseph Mohorovic.
The conversations throughout the day focused on TIA priority issues, including finding ways to reduce third party testing costs, and working with the agency as it develops its Risk Assessment Methodology (RAM) targeting system and e-filing pilot program. TIA also described its ongoing efforts to educate consumers and media about toy safety and spread awareness about the protective nature of federal toy safety standards.
“The toy industry has had a positive and productive relationship with the CPSC for many years, and we look forward to keeping the lines of communication open and strengthening our collaboration with the agency in the years to come,” says Pasierb.
