In honor of National Foster Care Month, the Marine Toys for Tots Program is expanding its efforts beyond the holiday season to deliver toys to children living in foster care. The program’s initiative, Champions for Those in Foster Care, will distribute toys, books, and other gifts to children in foster care through local organizations across the country.
More than 3,000 kids will receive gifts in the following areas: Buena Park, California; Quincy, Illinois; Mount Laurel, New Jersey; and Tucson, Arizona.
“These children leave their homes with only a small plastic bag of their belongings,” says Lt. Gen. Jim Laster, CEO of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. “Marine Toys for Tots wants to give foster care children not only something tangible to take with them as they move, but also some tools and hope for a brighter tomorrow.”
Toys for Tots supported more than 447,000 children in the foster care system last year. For more information, visit toysfortots.org.
