As Generation Z continues to age out of getting toys for the holidays, Toys “R” Us Asia is catering its retail holiday plans to this group.
The company has teamed up with the artist duo Craig & Karl to design experiences that combine fashion and fun for Gen Z. The artwork in this collaboration includes bright, geometric colors featuring holiday iconography like Christmas trees, presents, and more.
“Toys aren’t only for play anymore, especially among kidults,” says Leo Tsoi, CEO of Toys “R” Us Asia. “Gen Z’s interpretation of animations, comics, movies, and gaming across Asia blurs the line between, toys, fashion, and lifestyle and Toys ‘R’ Us is evolving to adapt to this trend while still keeping its core brand promise of fueling the imagination of kids.”
“This is only the beginning of Toys ‘R’ Us’ transformation,” Tsoi says. “We will continue to push the boundaries, breathing new life into the traditional toy industry, fueling the ‘impossible’ imagination of generations, creating a new form of self-expression that brings out their true self.”
Toys “R” Us Asia locations will also take advent calendars to new levels, with a life-size advent calendar suitable for Instagram photo opportunities where Gen Z shoppers will be able to play and win prizes.
