ZURU launched Series 2 of its line of Smashers collectibles. The new Gross Smashers will be available in October and feature 100 new characters housed in a Smashball that resembles a dislocated eyeball.
Like the first series, kids can only smash open the Smashball to discover which character they’ve collected. Once unboxed, kids can battle, collect, swap, and score with their Gross Smashers. Each figure has its own smash point value for extended play.
The second series include the themes Odd Bodies, Icky Insects, Ooze Dudes, Awful Animals, Filthy Food, Toilet Humour, and Smash Trash. There are also rare characters, ultra-rare see-thru characters, and a play set-exclusive characters to collect.
The line includes the Smashers one pack, three pack, and eight pack, as well as bigger items such as the Puke Pizza Collectors’ Tin and the Smashers Sludge Bus, which unfolds into a bathroom to shoot Smashers into a toilet. All come with a collector’s guide.
In addition to being a gross toy, Gross Smashers hit on many top toy trends including blind unboxing, collectibles, and compound play with many Smashballs including gooey slime. Additional webisodes and content is also in production for the Smashers YouTube channel, which has 15.4 million views to date.
