Mattel Launches Barbie Collection Celebrating 50 Years of Star Trek

Paul Jordan, Mary JordanBarbie will release its Star Trek 50th Anniversary Barbie Collection, featuring Kirk, Spock, and Uhura dolls depicted in the spirit of the original series. The collection features Kirck, Mr. Spok, and Uhura Star Trek dolls. Each doll, sold separately, is sculpted in the actors’ likeness and features an authentic replica of the classic costume with a fully articulated body. The collection will be available this month.

Jazwares to Launch RWBY at Hot Topic

Skylanders Imaginators Brings Customization to Toys to Life Category

Today, Activision announced the latest installment to its Skylanders franchise: Skylanders Imaginators.

Set for release on Oct. 16, the new game allows kids to create the Skylanders of their dreams. When kids place the new Creation Crystal onto the Portal of Power, they can prepare to customize a completely unique Skylander on-screen. Kids can mix and match body parts and accessories, and give their Skylander its own name, powers, abilities, catchphrases, musical themes, and more. The one-of-a-kind Skylander will then be saved onto the Creation Crystal, so players can take it with them and play with their creation wherenever they go. There will be one Creation Crystal for each Skylanders element. Scentco Introduces TMNT: Out of the Shadows Toys and Stationery Line

Scentco expanded its partnership with Nickelodeon to develop a new line of toys and stationery for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows in time for the film’s release on June 3. The collection will include Smencils, Colored Smencils, Gel Crayons, Jumbo Smickers, and Scentco’s newest product, Squeezables. The scents are of items from the film, including grape soda and the Turtles’ favorite food—pizza.

USAopoly Ghostbusters Puzzles Hit Shelves for New Movie Release

GhostbustersUSAopoly has produced the Ghostbusters Artist Series Puzzle Collection to support the new Ghostbusters movie release. The 550-piece artist illustrated puzzles, designed for fans to relive moments from the original blockbuster, are available now at Amazon and specialty retailers across the U.S. and Canada.

Thirty years after the first Ghostbusters movie was released, director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. The film will be released in theaters nationwide on July 15.

As the latest evolution in the brand’s My Way portfolio, which focuses on customization, Imaginables takes Crayola even deeper into the personalization space with giving the opportunity to create their own designs.

To turn their art into a real stuffed animal, kids take a photo of their artwork; upload, email or text their picture using navigation steps on the Imaginables website; and then wait to receive their custom Imaginable in about four weeks.

Laser Pegs Launches Junior Collection at ASTRA

LaserPegsJuniorLaser Pegs Ventures is launching Laser Pegs Junior, a line designed specifically for 4 to 7 year olds. The line uses larger parts, features simpler assembly, and has pieces compatible with all Laser Peg kits. Each kit features multiple STEM-friendly builds, including Space, Rescue, Construction, Jets, and Trains. These five kits are the initial unveiling of a long-term plan to add additional products to this collection.

Laser Pegs Junior will have its own logo and packaging and its bricks will be made in new colors. Packaging also will include a “try me” button so kids and adults can try the Laser Pegs light up feature in retail stores.

Build-A-Bear Launches Disney•Pixar’s Finding Dory Collection

BuildaBearNemoBuild-A-Bear Workshop launched the Finding Dory Ocean Bear, Dory, and Nemo plush at stores in the U.S. and Canada and at buildabear.com. The Finding Dory Ocean Bear is a 17-inch plush inspired by the movie coming out from Disney•Pixar, and features deep blue fur, an ocean pattern, and the Finding Dory logo on its paw. Dory is an 18-inch plush with a shimmery scale-like texture and yellow fins, and Nemo is an 18-inch clown fish. Additional accessories are available, such as sound chips, hoodies, shorts, and wristies.

Harris-Sachs Brokers My Little Pony Deal for Pamson Pacific

HarrisSachsMLPPamson Pacific Enterprises Corp. and Hasbro’s My Little Pony have partnered for a spring/summer line of toys, including bubble and chalk toys, jump ropes, and other popular seasonal items for kids. Jim Sachs, partner at Harris-Sachs LLC, brokered the deal.
