Nintendo to Release First App for Smart Devices

MiitomoNintendo will launch its first app, Miitomo, in March for iOS and Andriod phones and tablets. Miitomo allows its users to use Mii characters to interact with friends, start conversations, and ask each other questions such as, “Do you believe in aliens?” or “What song has been stuck in your head lately?” Players will also have the ability to use a Miifoto feature take and share photos featuring their Mii.

Beginning Feb. 17, users can pre-register for Miitomo with a new Nintendo account service with existing email and social media accounts or current Network Nintendo IDs. A special Miitomo bonus will be offered to anyone who signs up for the account up until the launch date. Nintendo’s new My Nintendo rewards program will also launch in March, which will reward users for interacting with Nintendo products.
