Transformers: Robots in Disguise, based on the upcoming animated series, features new designs for favorite Transformers such as Bumblebee and Sideswipe, as well as new characters including Underbite and Strongarm. Meanwhile, the Transformers Generations line gets a new theme next year: Combiner Wars, which lets fans build Combiner figures such as Superion and Menasor, or customize their own. Voyager Scale figures act as the torso, while interchangeable Deluxe Scale figures serve as the arms and legs.
Bif Bang Pow! is partnering with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Warner Bros. Animation (WBA) to release a collection of action figures from the upcoming animated comedy series, Mike Tyson Mysteries, which will premiere this fall. The collection includes a Mike Tyson Mysteries Mike Tyson with Boxing Gloves 8-Inch Action Figure, a convention exclusive for Comic-Con International: San Diego.
This venture between Bif Bang Pow! and Warner Bros. builds upon the companies’ existing partnership for products based on the TV series, The Big Bang Theory. The Mike Tyson Mysteries line will be available to order at Entertainment Earth.
Activision Publishing Inc. is kicking off a four-month, nationwide Skylanders Trap Team First-to-Play Tour, in which attendees can play Skylanders Trap Team inside a customized Game Truck, which serves as a mobile video game media room.
The tour will give fans a hands-on experience of the game prior to its North American launch on October 5. The first stops coincide with Comic-Con International: San Diego, and are scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Fans can visit the Game Truck at Interactive Zone, located at Petco Park’s Lexus Premier Lot, Imperial Avenue at 11th Avenue.
At Comic-Con International: San Diego this week, Lego Systems Inc. will unveil new products, including two Lego Super Heroes: DC Comics sets scheduled to launch next year, one of which is an 1,800-piece tumbler.
Meanwhile, in anticipation of this December’s theatrical release of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Lego Systems will preview one of the new Lego the Hobbit sets slated to arrive in stores this October. The company will also show off an upcoming set based on The Lego Movie, as well as sets based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV series and new feature film.
Finally, Lego Systems will unveil the fourth wave of Lego Mixels characters and content, set to launch next year.
Hasbro Inc. and Shapeways are launching SuperFanArt, a web site that enables fans inspired by Hasbro brands to showcase their artwork and sell their 3-D printed designs on Shapeways, a 3-D printing marketplace and community. Through the site, the Hasbro fan base will have license to create new art and product offerings.
SuperFanArt will launch with the My Little Pony franchise, and additional Hasbro brands will be introduced in the coming months. At its launch, SuperFanArt will showcase work by several talented fan artists, and consumers can click through to each artist’s shop to place an order. Additional artists and 3-D printed products will be featured on the site in the future.
The artwork featured on SuperFanArt will also be on display at Comic-Con International: San Diego.
Activision Publishing Inc. is bringing the Skylanders video game franchise to Comic-Con International: San Diego, and attendees will be the first to check out the Skylanders Trap Team Dark Edition Starter Pack toys. The pack includes the Ultimate Kaos Trap, a special, larger-sized trap, which allows Portal Masters to trap and play as Kaos when the game launches in North America on October 5.
In addition, the pack will include two Traps; exclusive black and silver variant designs of new characters Snap Shot, Wildfire, and Food Fight; a two-sided poster; sticker sheets; and trading cards. The Skylanders Trap Team Dark Edition Starter Pack will be available on Xbox 360 and Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, and Nintendo’s Wii and Wii U systems.
Comic Con International: San Diego kicks off thus Thursday, but North American fans can pre-order the Skylanders Trap Team Dark Edition Starter Pack beginning today at major retailers while supplies last.
Skylanders will attend Comic-Con International: San Diego for the first time in the franchise’s history on July 24, and to celebrate, Activision Publishing Inc. will award more than $5,000 in prizes to the best Skylanders costumes of the show.
The grand prize winner will receive $4,000, the runner-up will be awarded $1,000, and the second runner-up will receive a collection of rare Skylanders toys.
The costume contest will take place at the Comic-Con International: San Diego panel, Skylanders: The Creative Process of Bringing Toys to Life, where members of the Skylanders team will offer insights into the development process of the game franchise. Panel speakers will include comic book writer Ron Marz, Kaos voice Richard Horvitz; Activision senior vice president of consumer marketing, John Coyne; and Toys for Bob’s director of toy and character development, I-Wei Huang.
In addition, fans on-hand will be among the first to get hands-on experience with Skylanders Trap Team, the franchise’s newest installment.
In conjunction with Activision, IDW Publishing will release the first-ever Skylanders comic-book series, by writer Ron Marz with Mike Bowden and David Baldeon as lead artists. Skylanders is the best-selling kids’ video game franchise since its launch in 2011. The first issue of the comic book series, a prequel to the Skylanders Trap Team storyline, provides fans an inside look at where some of their favorite Skylanders came from, as well as a first look at some all-new characters from the upcoming game.
Skylanders will make the leap to comics this July, debuting at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2014. Skylanders #0 features an introductory 16-page story, character guides, and additional back-up information. It will be launched in both print and digital during SDCC weekend.

Hasbro is celebrating the upcoming 30th anniversary of the Transformers brand with new toy lines, including the first Construct-Bots in the Transformers Prime Beast Hunters style, and Transformers Generations toys that celebrate different incarnations of the Transformers brand from throughout its 30-year history.
Other new toys include the first 10 items in the Thrilling 30, a set of 30 limited-edition toys, available at various locations worldwide, that celebrate the 30th anniversary. The first talking Bumblebee toy for Transformers Prime, Transformers Weaponizers Bumblebee, was also debuted. The unveiling of the toy coincided with the first time Bumblebee talked in an episode of Transformers Prime Beasthunters.
At Comic-Con, the Transformers team revealed the winner of the Fan Built Bot poll, which asked fans to help create a new Transformers character. The winner is a black and red female Autobot jet named Windblade.
Hasbro returns to Comic-Con International in San Diego to showcase its pop-culture brands, including Transformers, My Little Pony, Kre-O, and G.I. Joe, as well as licensed toy lines for Angry Birds Star Wars, Marvel, Star Wars, and Star Trek. Hasbro will celebrate its popular brands and characters with a lineup of panels, autograph sessions, special edition toys, giveaways, and more.
Fans will also be able to experience the Telepods platform, a fully-integrated play experience for the mobile generation that “teleports” physical characters into digital gaming and app experiences. The Telepods line will be released this fall, and will be fully integrated into the new Angry Birds Star Wars II app, from Rovio Entertainment and Lucasfilm.
