Hasbro’s Special Edition Comic-Con International Toys Include Jem, My Little Pony, Transformers, and More
Hasbro Inc. is attending Comic-Con International in San Diego with special edition action figures and toys drawn from its popular brands and licenses. Along with items tied to movies, animated series, comics, and video games—such as My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the classic Transformers cartoon—the toymaker is showing off licensed properties for Star Wars and Marvel.
McFarlane Toys, in partnership with HBO Global Licensing, has signed a licensing agreement to bring the TV series Game of Thrones to the construction toy aisle this fall. Following in its tradition of highly detailed construction sets, McFarlane Toys will add an artistic layer to each Game of Thrones brick piece, resulting in construction sets that double as realistic models of notable locations seen on the show.
Activision Publishing Inc. will unveil the new Skylanders SuperChargers Dark Edition at Comic-Con International: San Diego, and attendees will be among the first consumers to play the game with dark versions of the Starter Pack characters. They include Dark Turbo Charge Donkey Kong with the Dark Barrel Blaster land vehicle, Dark Hammer Slam Bowser with the Dark Clown Cruiser sky vehicle, and Stealth Elf in a new Dark version.
Toys “R” Us today revealed its lineup of exclusive figures and playthings, which will be available at Comic-Con International: San Diego next month. The retailer will provide convention goers with the opportunity to be among the first to purchase exclusive figures, figure packs, and play sets including Batman Classic TV Series Batgirl, from Mattel; G.I. Joe Desert Duel and My Little Pony Daring Do Dazzle, from Hasbro; and more.

But in recent years, the bookstore chain has also been expanding its non-book offerings, balancing out shelves of New York Times bestsellers with educational toys, games, and collectibles.
Transformers: Robots in Disguise, based on the upcoming animated series, features new designs for favorite Transformers such as Bumblebee and Sideswipe, as well as new characters including Underbite and Strongarm. Meanwhile, the Transformers Generations line gets a new theme next year: Combiner Wars, which lets fans build Combiner figures such as Superion and Menasor, or customize their own. Voyager Scale figures act as the torso, while interchangeable Deluxe Scale figures serve as the arms and legs.
Bif Bang Pow! is partnering with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Warner Bros. Animation (WBA) to release a collection of action figures from the upcoming animated comedy series, Mike Tyson Mysteries, which will premiere this fall. The collection includes a Mike Tyson Mysteries Mike Tyson with Boxing Gloves 8-Inch Action Figure, a convention exclusive for Comic-Con International: San Diego.
This venture between Bif Bang Pow! and Warner Bros. builds upon the companies’ existing partnership for products based on the TV series, The Big Bang Theory. The Mike Tyson Mysteries line will be available to order at Entertainment Earth.
