Tonner Haute Couture Wizard of Oz Dolls Still Available for Bidding

WizardofOz.TonnerThere’s still time to bid on haute couture dolls by high-end fashion and costume designers inspired by Dorothy Gale, Glinda the Good Witch, and The Wicked Witch of the West. These collectible dolls were made for Tonner Doll’s collection of 22-inch dolls in celebration of the 75th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz.

Doll designers included Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan Atelier, Hervé Léger by Max Azria, Betsey Johnson, and more.

Earlier this month, Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) and Tonner Doll Company unveiled the 20-doll collection at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. The collection is now located at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street flagship in New York City for additional public viewing on the third floor until October 9.

The dolls are still available for bidding on eBay Giving Works at wizardofozdollauction.com until Sunday, with proceeds benefiting Habitat for Humanity as part of the There’s No Place Like Home campaign.

Tonner Gets into the Action with Lady Action

Lady ActionTonner Doll Co. Inc. has developed a new 16-inch Lady Action collectible doll through a partnership with Captain Action Enterprises. The Lady Action British Superspy doll recently debuted at New York Comic Con at the Javits Center in New York City and will be showcased at the American International Toy Fair in February, as well as the Tonner Collectors Convention in May.

Since Lady Action was introduced in 2007 as part of the Captain Action line, she has been scheduled to appear in the upcoming Captain Action comic series, Codename: Action, published by Dynamite Entertainment. Caption Action: The Animated Series is also currently in development with Gang of Seven Animation.

This collectible doll, also known in reality as Niki Sinclair, daughter of an adventurer and now part of the A.C.T.I.O.N. Directorate international spy organization, will be available to fans and collectors in comic shops nationwide as well as through online retailers and at tonnerdoll.com in May.

Tonner Doll Partners with Warner Bros. for “A Christmas Story” Collection

Tonner Doll Company has partnered with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), to release a Ralphie Character Figure based on the 1983 film, A Christmas Story. The film, based on the short stories and semi-fictional anecdotes of Jean Shepard, including In God We Trust and All Others Pay Cash, has become a holiday staple.

Sculpted in the likenesses of Peter Billingsley, fans of A Christmas Story and collectors everywhere can take home their very own Ralphie, BB gun included.  [Read more...]

Fao Schwarz Unveils “A Fashionable Collection Of Tonner Dolls” for Fashion Week; Tonner to Visit Store

Doll Artist Robert Tonner to Visit FAO Schwarz Flagship Store to Meet with Fans

In conjunction with the celebration of its 150th Anniversary, today FAO Schwarz unveiled a walk-around gallery showcasing a collection of dolls from the Tonner Doll Company, timed to coincide with Fashion Week in New York City. The exhibit will run through October 16 and can be viewed online beginning September 13. Items from the exhibit will also be featured on the company’s timeline on Facebook.

In honor of “A Fashionable Collection of Tonner Dolls,” FAO Schwarz will host a special event with Robert Tonner. On Monday, September 24 at 5 p.m., Tonner will meet with fans and sign Tonner Doll Company and Wilde Imagination product purchases.

Items on display include the Alice in Wonderland Collection, AmFar Model, Antoinette, City Girls, Ghosts of Christmas, Porcelain Alice and Red Riding Hood, Ellowyne Wilde and Blithe Spirit, Evangeline Ghastly with Coffin, Fashion Bird with stand, the Gone with the Wind Collection, the Harry Potter Collection, the Marvel Collection, the Mary Englebriet Set – Doll with Bed and Toys, Memoirs of a Geisha, Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog, a 22-inch Model in Court Gown and 22-inch Model in Goth Gown, the New York City Ballet, Precarious, the  Steampunk, Imperium Park, Sydney Chase at the Piano, Tyler Wentworth Fashion Designer with “Model,” the Wizard of Oz set, and a 22-inch Wonder Woman.

Tonner Doll Awarded License for Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games

Tonner Doll Company, a manufacturer of high-end collectible dolls and figures, has been granted the license for character figures based on the film The Hunger Games, which arrived in theaters nationwide last month.
Sculpted in the likenesses of the film’s lead characters, including Katniss Everdeen (as portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence), Peeta Mellark (as portrayed by Josh Hutcherson) and Gale Hawthorne (as portrayed by Liam Hemsworth), The Hunger Games Tonner Character Figure (TCF) dolls will range from 16-17 inches tall with multiple articulated joints for expressive poses and mobility. The dolls will feature hand-painted facial features, high-quality Saran hair, and authentic costuming based on actual costume samples from the film. Robert Tonner, CEO and doll artist, will oversee the creation of the figures, which will be made to a one-fourth scale.
