Happy 35th Birthday, American Girl!
Mattel is helping the brand kick-off celebration festivities with a host of new products, events, and experiences for kids and collectors alike to indulge.
The original historical cast — comprised of Addy Walker, Felicity Merriman, Josefina Montoya, Kirsten Larson, Molly McIntire, and Samantha Parkington — will make a re-appearance on American Girl’s virtual shelves. These signature 18-inch dolls are dressed in their timeless outfits and accessories, complete with the characters’ first paperback books in a vintage cover. Each historical heroine comes packaged in a retro American Girl doll box for the full throwback experience.

To commemorate 35 years of “herstory,” American Girl enthusiasts will also be able to enjoy special anniversary content and experiences. On Saturday, American Girl and Magnolia Bakery are holding a Facebook Live birthday bash, and kids are invited to decorate cupcakes alongside Chief Baking Officer Bobbie Lloyd and influencers such as Rachel Pitzel, Zooey Miyoshi, and more. For the bookworms enamored with American Girl history, the brand is offering Everything I Need to Know I Learned from American Girl, which includes a full-color illustration spread of fan-favorite characters sharing wise and witty advice from their time.
For kids who want to celebrate the anniversary with music and movement, the new digital album American Girl Get Up and Dance will have them rhyming through the times. In partnership with Warner Music Group, the album includes 10 character-inspired songs, including “Happy Birthday American Girl,” that is available to download on Apple Music, Spotify, and Pandora. Kids can also jig along to the songs on the American Girl YouTube channel.
