Asmodee Group has acquired the worldwide publishing, commercial, and brand rights to Spot It! from the Divertis Properties Group, Play Factory, Blue Orange publishers, and individual successors.
The game, known as Spot It! in North America and Dobble in the rest of the world, launched a few years ago from Blue Orange, and has become a leader in the card game market. It is available in Europe, North America, South America, and Asia, and has sold 7.7 million units in less than five years. Of those 7.7 million, more than 3 million units were sold in North America last year.
With the acquisition, Asmodee continues to grow its presence in the U.S., the world’s top board game market valued at about $1.8 billion. After a transitional period during which Blue Orange will continue to market Spot It! in North America, Asmodee Group will handle distribution.
