The new line of BRIO Builders is inspired by some real-life construction machines.

BRIO struck a deal with Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) to create a construction system featuring an excavator, hauler, and wheel loader that are designed to closely resemble the real thing. The BRIO Builders line is geared toward kids ages 3 and up and has been crafted with budding engineers in mind.

“The play possibilities are endless when children start building with Builder, and with these new Volvo-themed vehicles, the construction play takes on a whole new level of fun,” says BRIO Builder Product Designer Dan Nordlund. “Kids can now build their massive machines, act out a real-life inspired construction site and then reinvent and rebuild to their heart’s desire.”

“This is the first time these two Scandinavian brands have collaborated, but we have forged a strong bond, united by a number of shared values including quality, safety, a passion for exceptional design, and a commitment to environmental responsibility,” says Arvid Rinaldo, brand partnership lead at Volvo CE.

The new line will be available this fall and is made from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified beech wood paired with plastic pieces and tools.

To celebrate the launch and collaboration, a BRIO Builder Station is opening at the Volvo Museum in Eskilstuna, Sweden. A life-sized, wooden replica of the BRIO Builder wheel loader will be on display when it is not on the road to be exhibited at other live events.
