Build-A-Bear Workshop will host a livestream event to celebrate National Teddy Bear Day on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

The specialty retailer of plush bears and other characters will unveil a preview of upcoming product launches alongside stories and what it’s calling “the biggest heart ceremony ever.”

“2020 has been an unusual year and we know that many people have been separated from loved ones,” says President and CEO, Sharon Price John. “Teddy bears have a unique ability to communicate happiness, celebration, and love, and are the perfect way to share a hug with someone from afar. This National Teddy Bear Day, we’re not able to come together as we have in the past but can celebrate teddy bear hugs and connect with people around the world via our live-streaming event.”

The stream will begin at 10 a.m. CDT on the Build-A-Bear Facebook and YouTube channels.

Last week, the company debuted a new line of Harry Potter bears following mixed financial results that showed a digital sales boom alongside a rough few months due to COVID-19 related store closures.
