The first book, The Momster at the End of This Book, will be available April 7. Little readers can celebrate their mothers alongside Grover and other little monsters in this reimagined story. The new program will also feature stories inspired by social media moments, such as Elmo’s inquisitive post on X in January 2024. Elmo Checks In: How Is Everybody Doing?, available Oct. 27, showcases comforting insight and reassurance from the caring character.

The publishing house will release two die-cut board books next year. Readers can expect an Elmo-shaped book in the summer and an Abby Cadabby-shaped board book in the fall. Both books will include seek-and-find features, additional Sesame Street characters, and early learning concepts.

“This exciting collaboration between Chronicle Books and Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit behind Sesame Street, highlights what we both do best — deliver stories filled with joy and laughter when the world needs it most,” Brittany McInerney, Chronicle Books Publishing Director, Art & Entertainment, says. “Sesame Street has created characters that are beloved by generations, so we are thrilled to bring Chronicle’s unique sense of humor to new books that will delight fans of all ages.”

“For more than 55 years, Sesame Street has helped children and families navigate big feelings with warmth, humor, and heart,” Samantha Kennedy, VP Marketing and Brand Strategy, Sesame Workshop, adds. “This new collaboration allows us to extend that mission in fresh, joyful ways — through books that celebrate caregivers, encourage emotional well-being, and invite readers of all ages to check in with themselves and one another.”
