DC and Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) are launching an all-new Batman experience to connect with kids ages 6-12 in a COPPA-compliant environment.
The DC: Batman Bat-Tech Edition app is an immersive, free-to-play experience for iOS and Android that pairs games, comics, videos, and other storytelling with augmented reality (AR). The Toy Book attended a preview of the app last week for a look under the hood and to see it in action.

Kids around the world (the app is available in 13 languages) can learn how to use all of Batman’s gear and tech as they explore the Batcomputer and embark on narrative-driven, tech-inspired adventures and activities. Kids can learn all about Gotham City and its inhabitants while helping Batman to defend his iconic home. AR tech brings the action into the real world, and WBCP is working with toy partners, including Spin Master, on ways to extend the content in new ways by bringing toyetic elements into the app and by using the app to enhance physical play.
“Batman is one of our most important franchises, so bringing together the DC and Warner Bros. Consumer Products teams to develop this app featuring his fan-favorite gadgets and crime-fighting tech was a chance for us to give fans yet another way to engage with a favorite DC Super Hero,” says Pam Lifford, president, WarnerMedia Global Brands and Experiences. “The app creates a truly unique experience that gives kids around the world a chance to immerse themselves in the DC Universe — there’s no other app like it available today.
The closed platform does not connect to other users, so parents do not need to worry about questionable interactions. The app is available now and will be expanded with additional content in the months ahead. At launch, exclusive content includes photo filters, an exclusive Batman — Knightwatch digital comic book series, Bat-Tech video content from the DC YouTube channel, AR missions, mini-games, and more.
