The LEGO Group has released a new video featuring its fan-designed LEGO Ideas Table Football Set featuring World Cup winner Thierry Henry and Manchester United and England player Marcus Rashford MBE.

The We Love Sports LEGO Contest ran early last year on LEGO Ideas, accepting fan concepts for a new LEGO set inspired by a favorite sport. LEGO Ideas judges determined who would move on to the crowd vote that would decide the winner. All ideas that made it to this final phase had a chance of being reviewed and made into their own LEGO sets, which is what happened with 16-year-old Hungarian LEGO enthusiast Donát Fehérvári’s contest entry. His LEGO Ideas Table Football Set won the We Love Sports LEGO Contest and is now getting made into its own LEGO set.

LEGO designer Antica Bracanov who worked to bring Donát Fehérvári’s entry to LEGO officially says, “What makes the LEGO Ideas Table Football set so amazing is that it harnesses the spirit of sport. Donat’s design champions the shared rollercoaster of emotions that fans experience when watching football games. At the LEGO Group, we are incredibly proud to have brought this set to life, allowing fans to swap football boots for bricks, and be inspired take part in the game of play, for the love of play.”

The first to give the new set a test run are two famous football players (or soccer, for any American fans) — Thierry Henry and Marcus Rashford MBE. The two faced off with their chosen five minifigure teams to exhibit the new set. There are a number of different minifigures included in the set, 22 in total, which allows for building a diverse team as well as fans to watch the game.

Henry and Rashford both have positive things to say about the experience, with Henry commenting, “I am very excited to see the new LEGO set bring people together across the world as they master the table football game in brick form” and Rashford expressing his enjoyment saying “I love building with LEGO bricks – but to now build and play football against Thierry Henry in LEGO form is amazing!”

The new set is 2339 pieces, designed for ages 18 and up, and will be priced at $249.99. It’s launching as part of the LEGO For The Joy of Play campaign Rue des Francs-Bourgeois in Paris on Oct. 29-30. Attendees will be able to enter the LEGO Table Football competition as well as see Theirry Henry who is also attending.

The set will be introduced to LEGO Stores and specialty retailers beginning Nov. 1.
