The folks at hand2mind just set a world record.
On Sept. 29, hand2mind and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) achieved a Guinness World Record title for “The World’s Largest Pattern Blocks Mosaic.”
During the second day of the NCTM Annual Meeting and Exposition, a Guinness World Records official was present to confirm the attempt by NCTM and hand2mind to construct a Pattern Blocks mosaic that measures 25 feet long by 12.5 feet wide.
“Guinness World Records is recognized around the globe as the ultimate authority in record-breaking achievements with a mission to find and share the incredible,” said Sari Winick, chief marketing officer at hand2mind in a statement ahead of the attempt. “We’re so excited to work with Guinness World Records and NCTM as we make history together with Pattern Blocks, a product that is valued by teachers around the world and a perennial favorite here at hand2mind.”
Pattern Blocks have been utilized in classrooms since the 1960s to teach kids about patterns, shapes, colors, and a variety of other skills. Hand2mind’s six different blocks of different colors and shapes help kids work together to create the patterns.
