Anime is making waves at this year’s Licensing Expo, and JAKKS Pacific is gearing up to dominate the category.
The company announced at this year’s Licensing Expo that its new Anime Division would aim to meet the consumer demand for licensed anime merchandise. Developed over the past two years, the Anime Division will launch collections of toys, collectibles, and consumer products of popular series and entertainment properties, with its first collection shown at the company’s booth.
The company also shared the prototypes of a line of collectibles and plush inspired by hololive productions, the entertainment brand behind VTubers. This collection will be visible at the hololive productions booth for the remainder of the show. Characters featured in the prototype lineup include Takanashi Kiara, Mori Calliope, Ninomae Ina’nis, Takodachi, and Death Sensei.
Ariana Berman, Senior Director of Marketing at JAKKS Pacific, elaborates on the impact of licensed anime merchandise on retail: “Anime has evolved into one of the most influential global entertainment ecosystems, spanning streaming, gaming, merchandise, and creator culture. We have invested significant time building the right partnerships and infrastructure to enter this market in a meaningful way. Our goal is to leverage JAKKS’ decades of licensing and product development expertise to create a platform that drives long-term growth.”
