Melissa Benoist (Girls on the Bus) is set to join the cast of Masters of the Universe: Revolution as Teela. After playing the Kryptonian superheroine, Kara Davers in the CW’s Supergirl, Benoist makes the jump into another pop culture franchise as she adds her voice to Kevin Smith’s follow-up to Masters of the Universe: Revelation.
“I jumped at the opportunity to work alongside my friend, Kevin Smith and join the Revolution family as another bold and fearless heroine,” Benoist says. “I look forward to sharing the next evolution of Teela’s story with fans.”
Her upcoming portrayal as the Captain of the Royal Guard will be the actress’s third collaboration with Smith, having acted in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot and Clerks III. It will also be her second time starring alongside her husband Chris Wood, who voices He-Man and played Mon-El in Supergirl.
“On the heels of our 40th anniversary, He-Man is more prevalent in pop culture than ever before, which is why we’re especially excited to bring the force that is Melissa Benoist into the fold,” says Fred Soulie, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Mattel Television.
With the Masters of the Universe franchise entering its fourth decade of dominating pop culture last year, Mattel continues to keep the brand alive within the toy industry by offering products of He-Man and his mighty companions.
