The Pokémon Company International revealed plans to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
Pokémon will team up with Katy Perry and Universal Music Group for the yearlong project, P25 Music. More information about the collaboration will be released throughout the year.
“It is an honor to be chosen to help celebrate a franchise that has given me so much joy in the last 25 years, and to be able to watch it evolve in the ways it’s provided that kind of electric joy for the kids in my life and around the world,” says Perry.
A new video shows a Rube Goldberg machine traveling through the 25 years of Pokémon history and realms ending with a record player teasing Perry’s voice.
Throughout 2021, Pokémon plans to collaborate with many brands for exclusive anniversary products from Build-A-Bear Workshop, General Mills, Levi’s, and McDonald’s with additional partnerships with Mattel, Funko, Jazwares, and more.
Special collections of the Pokémon Trading Card Game will be available later this year along with oversize collectible trading cards, and merchandise from the Pokémon Center including a special anniversary skateboard.
