The Pokémon Co. International is showing no signs of slowing down, with a new mobile app and entry into the video game series both on the way.

On Pokémon Day yesterday, a Pokémon Presents event highlighted the company’s upcoming releases slated for this year as well as next, ranging from a series premiere to content for existing apps and more. Included in the reveals was a new entry into the game series, Pokémon: Legends Z-A, as well as an app offering fans a mobile version of the Pokémon trading card game (TCG).

In Pokémon: Legends Z-A, players will return to the Kalso Region, last visited in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. The game takes place in the vibrant Lumiose City, where a new urban redevelopment plan is underway to make a space designed for both people and Pokémon. The game will be released next year.

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket will be available this year on iOS and Android. This new app will invite players to open booster packs, collect cards, and engage in quick battles with streamlined rules inspired by the classic Pokémon TCG battle system. The free-to-start app is being developed in collaboration with Creatures, the makers of the Pokémon TCG, and DeNA.

Pokémon remains popular among fans across various age groups. Since its introduction in 1996, nostalgic kidults and young fans have enjoyed everything the franchise has to offer. A new video game as well as a new way to engage with the popular TCG aims to continue that trend.
