If there was any doubt as to the severity of the global supply chain crisis and its impact on toy and game makers, a letter sent to retailers by Ravensburger North America CEO Filip Franke should make it crystal clear. Effective September 17, 2021, Ravensburger will halt the acceptance of additional orders for the foreseeable future.

Ravensburger makes an extensive range of games, puzzles, science kits, and other products for kids and adults of all ages, including the popular Disney Villainous series, BRIO Trains, and Wonder Forge.  In the letter issued today and shared by Rick Derr of Learning Express via Twitter, Franke says that the challenges of the supply chain crisis have been amplified when coupled with setbacks in his company’s own, internal, long-term improvement efforts at its warehouses.

Rather than accept orders that it may not be able to fulfill, the company is devoting its resources to catch up on its backlog. Read the entire letter in its entirety below:

Ravensburger is set to exhibit at Gen Con from September 16-19 in Indianapolis. In an effort to prevent crowding at its booth, Ravensburger is accepting preorders next week for select games to be picked up in person at the event.

According to Franke, plans for 2022 are not impacted by the temporary order freeze and all new product launches will proceed as planned.
