As the toy industry continues to move toward a sustainable future, bio-based materials are increasingly making their way into the product mix.
The second bio!TOY Conference, taking place Sept. 7-8, 2021 in Nuremberg, Germany, seeks to bring together key players in the industry, including toymakers, manufacturers, and suppliers of bio-based materials. The in-person event will include a digital component and is organized by bioplastics Magazine and Germany-based Narocon Innovation Consulting, supported by the German Association of the Toy Industry (DVSI), and Spielwarenmesse eG.
“The bio-pioneers of the industry are role models,” says Michael Thielen, publisher of bioplastics Magazine. “They have attractive materials, good products, and convincing ideas. Although the ‘bio-toy’ industry is still in its infancy, experts are confident of its potential for development.”
“Spielwarenmesse eG sees sustainability as far more than just a trend and has long been raising awareness of this topic by providing regular information,” says Christian Ulrich, director, marketing at Spielwarenmesse eG. “With the world’s leading fair, we will be even more involved in this field in the future and make contributions. The conference fits in with this, which is why we support it.”
The first bio!TOY Conference took place in 2019. Registration for this year’s event is open now with opportunities for exhibitors, speakers, and sponsors. Full details can be found at bio-toy.info.
