The creators of the hit toy line Snap Ships have made a board game.
The tabletop game Snap Ships Tactics is heading to retail after raising nearly $300,000 on a Kickstarter campaign. The game debuted at Gen Con and was designed by Josh Derksen of Lynnvander Studios. It features Snap Ships models from co-creators Scott Pease and Jeff Swenty.

Snap Ships Tactics features the brand’s signature fully-customizable ship models that assemble using a unique connection system. The game offers players a chance to defend humanity amid interstellar warfare while crafting custom ships from a library of hundreds of modular parts. Snap Ships Tactics is an expandable miniatures system, meaning that adding additional ship kits allows for bigger battles (up to 4v4 and co-op play) and more unique ship parts to mix and match together.
“Our building system puts a completely custom squadron at your fingertips,” Pease says. “The game brings a host of innovations to the dogfighting genre, from the what-you-see-is-what-you-get models, to the unique movement and combat system. Tactics is quick to learn but built with competitive depth in mind. The gorgeous, toy-like models also set it up as the perfect gateway miniatures game for kids and adults alike — just snap ships together and play!”
Snap Ships Tactics is currently available on the shelves at brick and mortar stores around the U.S. and will be available on Amazon on Sept. 15 for $79.99. The entry level set is for 1-2 players ages 14 and up.
