Spencer Spirit Holdings, the same company behind Spencer’s, Spirit Halloween, and Spirit Christmas, is acquiring Hot Topic, BoxLunch, and Her Universe from Sycamore Partners.
With this acquisition, Spencer Spirit Holdings will have a total footprint of more than 3,000 stores across North America. Hot Topic, BoxLunch, and Her Universe will continue to operate independently from the Spencer Spirit business and maintain their existing headquarters.

Vranes, who has worked as CEO of Hot Topic for more than 10 years, will remain in his role and oversee the three brands’ day-to-day operations. Vranes will report to Steven Silverstein, CEO of Spencer Spirit Holdings.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the third quarter.
