Spielwarenmesse is in full swing, welcoming industry insiders to the largest global trade show for toys and games this week. With the second day of the fair behind us, the coveted ToyAward has its winners. A jury of 13 industry experts has selected the six toys to be honored across a variety of categories, based on the criteria of safety, potential for success in retail, play fun, comprehensibility of the product concept, and originality.

The Baby & Infant category saw Haba reach the top with its Basic Building Blocks — Multicolored. ”What was striking was the high quality and strong colors of the building blocks,” says the expert jury.

In the PreSchool category, Oppi’s Stix secured the win. This building game invites kids to create with a variety of different shapes and materials. “The mix of wooden and silicon elements, their different shapes, and the subdued modern coloring leave a strong impression,” says the expert jury.

Franckh-Kosmos took the SchoolKids category with its Adventure Puzzle — The Light in the Enchanted Forest. The jurors enjoyed many aspects of this unique puzzle, “in particular to the innovative approach and the brilliant combination of book, interactive game, and jigsaw puzzle.”

For Teenagers & Adults, Fizz Creations took the win with its Tetris & Pac Man Arcade in a Tin games. The jury pointed out that “the retro thinking is entirely on trend,” as well as the games’ manufacturing quality, fun packaging, and value for the price.

In the Startup category, Hopstar succeeded with the Artist instant camera. The camera has features like automatic image correction, filters, frames, and a built-in printer. The expert jury pointed out plenty of positives, saying “the camera not only promotes fine motor skills, but above all the creativity of children.”

Finally, rounding out things with a Sustainability win, Famosa by Giochi Preziosi’s Feber Recycle Eco House is a play house made from 90% recycled plastic. “The product takes a wide-ranging educational approach and is superbly produced,” says the expert jury.

Spielwarenmesse attendees can see the winners on full display in the ToyAward stand in Hall 3A. More information regarding ToyAward prizes and the expert jury is available at toyaward.de/en.
