The final book from Dr. Seuss is on its way to the big screen, but the journey has just begun.
Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Warner Animation Group have hired Jon M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Jem and the Holograms, In The Heights) to helm Oh, The Places You’ll Go! J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions is working alongside Chu to adapt the book for the big screen with a release date planned for 2027.
“Jon M. Chu is one of the most creative directors in the industry and we look forward to working collaboratively with Jon to capture the emotional and resonating messages found in Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” says Susan Brandt, president of Dr. Seuss Enterprises.
The animated feature is part of a new Dr. Seuss cinematic universe that is set to begin in 2024 with a new version of The Cat in The Hat directed by Erica Rivinoja (South Park, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2) and Art Hernandez (Planes, Planes: Fire and Rescue). Another film is in development under the working title of Thing One and Thing Two. Additionally, Green Eggs and Ham began its second season on Netflix on Nov. 5.
