Build-A-Bear Workshop has announced it is donating $5,000 to the Louisiana Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Program (LMMSTRP) to help marine mammals affected by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Customers at the retailer’s stores, until June 27, can also contribute $1 during checkout, which will be donated to LMMSTRP.
Coordinated by Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, LMMSTRP is Louisiana’s primary responder in rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing marine mammals and sea turtles.
The Audubon Nature Institute is the parent organization of LMMSTRP and is collaborating with the local U.S. Coast Guard, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration members for rescue efforts.
