The Wait Is Almost Over: Nintendo to Release Wii U, 23 New Games November 18

Nintendo is unleashing the largest launch-day video game lineup in its history for its new Wii U home console. When Wii U launches in the Americas on Nov. 18, 23 games from Nintendo and its third-party publishing partners will be ready to play as well. These include Nintendo-published games like Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros. U, Sing Party, and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, as well as third-party powerhouses like ZombiU from Ubisoft, Call of Duty: Black Ops II from Activision Publishing, Inc., Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two from Disney Interactive, FIFA Soccer 13 from Electronic Arts, and Scribblenauts Unlimited from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

Skylanders Cloud Patrol Available on Amazon’s New Kindle Fire HD

Get ready to take to the skies and search for escaped trolls on an entirely new mobile platform. Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc., is releasing Skylanders Cloud Patrol for the Kindle Fire HD, alongside the first-generation Kindle Fire.

Exclusive to the version of Skylanders Cloud Patrol on Kindle Fire, players will be able to purchase toys within the Skylanders Cloud Patrol game app itself with the push of a button. Leveraging the “always logged in” feature of the Kindle Fire, buying the physical toy in-app will unlock the digital character immediately via Amazon’s 1-Click Purchasing, while the physical toy is shipped to the user.

Skylanders Cloud Patrol is a recently released mobile gaming experience set in a new region of Skylands that has been overrun by the evil minions of Portal Master, Kaos. With all 30-plus Skylanders available to unlock, the game lets players take command of a sky-ship and use their favorite Skylander to dispatch the baddies using touch gestures to tap-and-shoot or swipe the screen to create combos.

New Squinkies Video Games to Debut This Year

Blip Toys, the maker of the Squinkies line of collectible figures, has granted Activision Publishing, Inc. the exclusive worldwide rights to develop, manufacture, and distribute video games based on the Squinkies brand and characters. The agreement covers entertainment software products across multiple platforms such as handheld, console, and connected platforms, as well as PC and mobile devices.

The new Squinkies video games are expected to debut throughout 2011, with the first Nintendo DS title for girls releasing in April.

Activision to Release Percy Jackson & The Olympians Video Game

Activision Publishing, Inc. and Fox Licensing will release Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief for the Nintendo DS, based on the first title of Rick Riordan’s book series.  The role-playing video game allows players to navigate Percy Jackson and his fellow demigods as they battle for survival in a contemporary world ruled by Greek gods. The video game will hit store shelves February 9, while a movie of the same title, Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, will release in theaters February 12.
