National Toy Hall of Fame Reveals Finalists

The 12 finalists for induction into Strong’s National Toy Hall of Fame in Rochester, New York are Clue, Magic 8 Ball, Matchbox Cars, My Little Pony, paper airplane, PEZ Candy Dispenser, play food, Risk, sand, Transformers, Uno, and Wiffle Ball. Only two to three finalists will join other toys in the hall and sit alongside past inductees such as Barbie, LEGO, Monopoly, Rubik’s Cube, and Star Wars action figures.

The final 2017 toy inductees will be chosen on the advice of a national selection advisory committee, and will be announced on Nov. 9. Criteria for induction include icon status, longevity, discovery, and innovation.

Toy Halls of Fame Exhibit to Be Unveiled at The Strong Museum

Toy Halls of FameOn September 17, The Strong museum will unveil a state-of-the-art exhibit, the Toy Halls of Fame. The exhibit, estimated at a cost of $4 million, will house The Strong’s National Toy Hall of Fame alongside the Toy Industry Association’s (TIA) Toy Industry Hall of Fame.

World Video Game Hall of Fame Reveals 15 Finalists

They are: Angry Birds, Doom, FIFA, The Legend of Zelda, Minecraft, The Oregon Trail, Pac-Man, Pokémon, Pong, The Sims, Sonic the Hedgehog, Space Invaders, Super Mario Bros., Tetris, and World of Warcraft.

The Strong and Spin Master Partner on Museum Exhibit

The Strong will be the sole repository for Spin Master’s collections, including toys and other artifacts of play produced by the company over time.
