The Strong National Museum, a museum dedicated to the history and exploration of play, is the first museum to host War Toys: Ukraine, an exhibit that explores the impact of the armed conflict on kids.
“The Strong is honored to be the first museum to host the War Toys: Ukraine exhibition,” says Steve Dubnik, President & CEO of The Strong. “This exhibit is a call to action, raising awareness about the lasting impact of armed conflict on the youngest among us. It will serve as a testament to the resilience of these children and a reminder that we must stand with them in solidarity.”

The War Toys: Ukraine exhibit will show the experiences of kids who are impacted by the conflict in Ukraine. Items on display include photographs of iconic kids’ toys in wartorn images, from green army men in the throes of battle to toy tanks among the rubble. The exhibit will also feature 30 of these kids’ drawings, including Rainbow, a drawing of a bright future centered with a soldier who has returned home from war, and The Very, Very Beginning, a memory from a 6-year-old girl and her brother watching cartoons when Russia invaded Ukraine.
The exhibit will open on Nov. 10 and run through March of next year.
