World of Toys

This year’s Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair kicked off the new toy season as the industry prepares to make the rounds from Asia to Europe in the lead up to Toy Fair New York.

While the event was a success, the political unrest in the region did take its toll on overall numbers. This year, 41,400 trade visitors attended the show show, a 19% decline from 51,000 last year. Still, attendees have been positive on the Fair, and Spielwarenmesse eG says its 12th World of Toys Pavilion was another hit. The space at the show was fully booked by the end of October with 27 exhibitors from 13 countries represented at this month’s show.

“For us, taking part in this event is an important part of our internationalization strategy. We were really busy and will definitely be back,” says Christian Vollmer, sales and marketing director, Fehn GmbH & Co. KG, a maker of baby toys. “The team at Spielwarenmesse eG looked after us extremely well and it was a pleasure to work with them, as it made our job so much easier.”

As the Hong Kong Fair continues to grow, international companies that may not already have a presence at the show have been utilizing the capabilities of Spielwarenmesse eG’s World of Toys program to gain access to that market and others, such as Kids India and Kids Russia.

The World of Toys Ready-to-Go Package includes a turn-key booth stand with basic furniture and fittings, numerous marketing measures, and a personal trade show contact for comprehensive customer care before, during, and after the Fair.

Attendance will likely rebound for next year’s Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, which will take place from Jan. 11-14, 2021. Spielwarenmesse eG is ready to assist interested toymakers with their trade fair needs.
