As pickleball grows more popular, outdoor recreation brand Waboba has released its own paddle-based game.
Battlebird is a paddle and birdie game that is easy to set up and start playing. The two players each set up a colored square rather than a net and defend their square by not allowing the birdie to touch it. The hand paddles are also worn instead of being held. Additional sets can also be purchased to have more squares and play with more than two people.
With Battlebird, Waboba has strived to make a more accessible twist on classic paddle games. Battlebird is simple to set up at any location with the ground straps that create the game boundaries and doesn’t require a specific court to play.
“We love giving people a way to destress,” says Jordan Sullivan, Creative Director at Waboba. “Whether it’s families, friends, spouses, or coworkers. Battlebird gives people a fun way to get outside and decompress through play. We’re excited to offer a new and more accessible kind of paddle game for all ages.”
The new game is available now on the Waboba website as well as in a variety of stores, with a price point of $39.99 for a set of two hand paddles, two birdies, and two ground straps. The company also expressed its intention to introduce the game to summer camps, schools, and even other companies looking for employee activities.
