Staples Canada is becoming the official and exclusive Canadian retail partner for Toys “R” Us Canada and Parties “R” Us Canada, bringing both brands into its national store network through a rollout that will extend across nearly 300 locations by the end of 2027.

Toys “R” Us Canada is an independently owned operation that is unrelated to Toys “R” Us in the U.S. or elsewhere in the world.

“As a Canadian company, with close to 300 stores and 11,000 employees serving communities across every province, we’re proud to help write the next chapter for a brand that has been part of childhood in Canada for generations,” says Jens Cermak, CEO, Staples Canada.

The partnership with Next Century Ipco Can ULC launches this holiday season with a pilot shop-in-shop at Staples Richmond Hill, Ontario, alongside a digital experience online at staples.ca. The first location celebrates its grand opening next weekend, Saturday, Nov. 14, at 45 Red Maple Road, with make-and-take activities, special offers, and character appearances.

The dedicated retail spaces will feature curated and exclusive product assortments. Toys “R” Us Canada will return as a toy shopping destination, while Parties “R” Us Canada will introduce a new retail concept featuring balloons, party goods, seasonal essentials, and licensed party products.

The expansion uses Staples Canada’s existing retail network, digital platform, and local teams to make toys and celebration essentials more accessible to families across the country. The companies also expect the partnership to support Canadian retail jobs and continued investment in stores and communities.

“By bringing Toys ‘R’ Us Canada and Parties ‘R’ Us Canada into our national retail network, we’re creating an exciting new destination for Canadian families, with more choice, convenience and engaging experiences in store and online,” Cermak adds.

The agreement marks the next chapter for Toys “R” Us Canada following Next Century Ipco Canada ULC’s acquisition of the brand’s Canadian trademarks and associated intellectual property. Staples Canada will serve as its exclusive retail partner in the country.

“We’re excited to greatly expand the reach of the Toys ‘R’ Us brand through Staples Canada, which brings an extraordinary national network and deep community connections,” shares Joel Weinshanker, Next Century CEO. “We’ll be in more stores than ever before, serving families from coast to coast and making it easier and more convenient to find the toys, products and experiences they love, all in one place.”

Additional shop-in-shop locations are expected to roll out throughout 2027.
