New year, new games.
Buffalo Games and Big Potato have inked a deal to distribute each other’s products throughout the U.S. and UK.
Effective immediately, New York-based Buffalo Games will work to expand Big Potato’s reach in the States while London-based Big Potato will do the same for Buffalo Games across the pond.
“Big Potato is a brilliantly creative business with an incredible lineup of games and yet more in the pipeline. We can’t wait to represent their titles in the U.S. and think together we can really help drive growth for our retail partners,” says Nagendra Raina, President of Buffalo Games. “They are also experts on Amazon and we’ll be harnessing this to support key products in the UK, along with their broader retail relationships. We think we’ve found a like-minded partner and are really excited about the potential of this agreement.”
Big Potato is known for its party games for young adults and families, including The Chameleon, Herd Mentality, Disney Color Brain, and some recent hits such as last year’s Linkee Nick Jonas edition, Chicken vs. Hot Dog, and the USPS-licensed Great American Mail Race.
The new deal will make Buffalo Games’ top products, including Pop-It Pro, Pop-It Pets, and Junior Detective available to kids and families throughout the UK. Additionally, the Chuckle & Roar line of toys and games, which is exclusive to Target in the U.S., will become available to UK consumers for the first time
“Buffalo are strategic retail experts and have a proven approach for creating smash hits, I don’t think anyone is better at managing product fit and productivity with retailers,” says Big Potato Games Co-founder Dean Tempest. “They can make Big Potato bigger and better in the U.S. and we’re looking forward to learning from them. In the UK, we think retailers and their customers are going to love Chuckle & Roar and products like Pop-It Pro and Pop-It Pet collectibles. It almost feels like cheating being able to bring such great products to market. This is just the start, keep your eyes peeled!”
Toy Book readers may recall that Big Potato Games entered into a three-year licensing and distribution agreement back in 2019. While that agreement is phasing out by the end of the first quarter, Spin Master will remain the U.S. distributor for Big Potato’s Blockbuster game franchise. Additionally, the two parties have agreed to continue working together to develop new games inspired by the legacy of the Blockbuster video brand.
