Kess is getting into a new category that is also one of this year’s hottest toy trends: puzzles.
On Monday, Nov. 16, the third-generation toy and game company will officially launch de.bored, a vibrant new line of puzzles designed to “help adults de-stress and solve boredom through colorful, strategic, and repeat puzzle play.”
At launch, the collection will include a range of 500- and 1,000-piece puzzles designed by artists including Kii Arens and Charley Clements.
“Kess has emerged as a leader in outdoor, active play, but as winter approaches, we’re seeing families looking for equally-fun, stimulating activities to engage in indoors,” says Alex Kessler, founder and CEO of Kess. “With de.bored puzzles, our goal is to infuse modern and trendy designs with bold color palettes and original play patterns so consumers can enjoy solving puzzles again and again.”
The de.bored puzzle collection will expand with additional designs available on Amazon and the Kess website later this fall. The company is already planning line extensions, including impulse and limited-edition puzzles, along with other new innovations that will be revealed in the months ahead. Kess expects to have de.bored puzzles available at retail across the U.S. next spring.
According to the latest data from The NPD Group, sales of games and puzzles grew 42% in the U.S. during the first nine months of the year as families spent more time playing together amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
