Barbie is honoring the titans of women’s sports with one-of-a-kind dolls and new product launches.
Mattel’s Barbie brand is continuing efforts to uplift and inspire women across various careers. The company is no stranger to highlighting women in sports, with recent releases such as the Kristi Yamaguchi Collectible Doll and the 2023 Career of the Year Collection. Now, Barbie has developed one-of-a-kind role model dolls inspired by nine powerful athletes. With the reveal of the new dolls, the brand is also launching the 2024 Sports Assortment and Gymnast Playset.

New product offerings celebrating the sports theme include the 2024 Barbie Sports Doll lineup, featuring a basketball player, a boxer, a tennis player, and a volleyball player, all in sports uniforms with included equipment. The 2024 Soccer Doll Assortment includes four soccer players in different uniforms with a soccer ball and cleats. The Gymnast Playset has a gymnast with a purple leotard and more than 10 accessories.

Collaborating with nine athletes from across the world, Barbie is showcasing the inspiring stories of women in sports. The Sports Role Model Global lineup includes Venus Williams, a tennis player from the U.S.; Christine Sinclair, a soccer player from Canada; Mary Fowler, a football player from Australia; Estelle Mossely, a boxer from France; Alexa Moreno, a gymnast from Mexico; Rebecca Andrade, a gymnast from Brazil; Susana Rodriguez, a paratriathlon athlete from Spain; Federica Pellegrini, a swimmer from Italy; and Ewa Swoboda, a track and field sprinter from Poland.
“After welcoming Kristi Yamaguchi to our Barbie Inspiring Women line last month, we are proud to continue fueling the momentum surrounding women in sports by welcoming these nine athletes as our newest role models,” says Krista Berger, Senior Vice President of Barbie and Global Head of Dolls, Mattel. “The sports one-of-a-kind Role Model dolls serve as an embodiment of our shared values of passion, empowerment, and individuality.”
The Barbie brand is also continuing its partnership with VOICEINSPORT to host virtual mentoring sessions that are free to attend and continue into next year. In addition, it will partner with retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Amazon for exclusive offerings and activations.
The new 2024 Sports Assortment and Soccer Doll Assortments are available now at a variety of online retailers. The Barbie Gymnast Playset will be released this fall.
