Gaming and entertainment company Exploding Kittens has revealed four new card games. One party game — That Escalated Quickly — launches today, while Power Hungry Pets, Danger Danger, and Hoppy Salmon will be available in stores next month.
“For our new Spring lineup of games, we wanted to offer customers highly engaging, interactive experiences that are also uncomplicated,” says Elan Lee, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Creator of Exploding Kittens. “In true Exploding Kittens style, we’re giving you the canvas to have an amazing time with your family and friends of all ages — whether you’re playing That Escalated Quickly or Danger Danger. These games are approachable for anyone to jump in and play at a party or family gathering.”
Exploding Kittens secured the rights to re-imagine and develop an English-language version of Top Ten, the 2022 Spiel Des Jahres (German Game of the Year) nominee from Cocktail Games. In That Escalated Quickly, designed for kids ages 10 and up, a prompt card sets the scenario and players must work together to put silly answers in the correct numerical order.
“Top Ten has been a fan-favorite party game in Europe since its 2020 release and we hope That Escalated Quickly will see just as much success across the pond,” says Matthieu d’Epenoux, Owner of Cocktail Games. “Exploding Kittens is so beloved for its hilarious gameplay and passionate fanbase, so we knew they’d be the perfect partner to capture the experience for an English-speaking audience.”
That Escalated Quickly is available now at Target, target.com, Amazon, and explodingkittens.com for $19.99. The game will be available soon at Walmart.
Power Hungry Pets is a re-imagined version of Love Letter from Z-Man Games. Designed for kids ages 7 and up and deemed as a strategy game for those who hate strategy games, it culminates in a grab for power. The deck showcases Exploding Kittens’ characters and signature artwork, and each card features a number and a way to backstab, steal from, or obliterate other players. Power Hungry Pets will be available at Target, target.com, and explodingkittens.com for $14.99.
Danger Danger is designed for kids ages 7 and up. In the game, players draw and play cards as fast as possible for 60 seconds. The timer is hidden, so players don’t know how much time is left and if they are still playing when the buzzer goes off, they lose. Each card is worth a certain number of points, and the team with the most points wins.
Danger Danger will be available at Target, target.com, and explodingkittens.com for $14.99.
Hoppy Salmon, designed for kids ages 6 and up, is an Easter-themed adaptation of Exploding Kittens’ Happy Salmon with new Easter-themed actions. Hoppy Salmon will be available exclusively at Target and target.com for $9.99.
Power Hungry Pets, Danger Danger, and Hoppy Salmon will be available on Feb. 18.
