Following Hasbro’s Centennial Fan Choice Campaign, in which kids and their families voted on how $1 million would be donated to different charities, Toys for Tots won first place, and as a result Alan Hassenfeld and The Hassenfeld Family Foundation have donated $400,000 to the charity.
More than 34,000 fans voted for their favorite charities during the campaign. Other charities that received donations include Hasbro Children’s Hospital, which received $300,000; One Tree Planted, which received $200,000; and Games for Change, which received $100,000.
“This year has been a monumental celebration for Hasbro’s 100th anniversary, and it’s truly special to see our fans actively participate in making a positive impact,” Hassenfeld says. “I want to thank our loyal fans for making their voices heard and showing that we all can make a difference in making our communities and the world a better place. These are all exceptional organizations, and I’m thrilled to contribute to their ongoing individual missions to tackle issues near and dear to me and my family’s hearts.”
Hasbro has donated more than 8.4 million toys and games in the 27 years the company has partnered with Toys for Tots. During that time, they also worked together on natural disaster relief in Puerto Rico, Louisiana, and Florida.
