Hasbro is launching a yearlong campaign to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Transformers: The Movie, the 1986 animated feature that helped shape the global franchise.
The anniversary program spans new toys, fan experiences, and licensed products tied to the film’s legacy.
The initiative includes a global “1986 Apology Tour,” a series of fan events and screenings centered on the film’s cultural impact and key story moments. The celebration also features a new anniversary toy lineup, including a premium electronic Matrix of Leadership replica and new Studio Series figures inspired by characters from the film, including Shockwave, Skywarp, Wheeljack, Kranix, Sunstreaker, Astrotrain, and Snarl. Previously revealed figures based on Optimus Prime, Megatron, Hot Rod, Hound, and Scourge are also part of the program, with additional product reveals planned throughout the year. Preorders for select items are scheduled to begin Feb. 16 and Feb. 17 following a Hasbro Pulse livestream Feb. 15.
The anniversary celebration extends beyond toys through a range of licensed collectibles and publishing products created with partners including Skybound Entertainment, Super7, Jada Toys, Threezero, CultureFly, Monogram International, ShuShu Papa, and Trends International.
“The Transformers: The Movie marked a defining moment for the franchise,” shares Alyse D’Antuono, Vice President, Global Brand & Franchise Strategy, Action Brands, Hasbro. “From the emotional impact of Optimus Prime’s passing to the dynamic storytelling that followed, we recognize just how powerful and unforgettable that moment remains.
