It’s back-to-school season at Bayside High. As Box Tops for Education marks its 30th anniversary, General Mills is reuniting the cast of Saved by the Bell for a new marketing campaign that pairs ‘90s nostalgia with support for schools nationwide.
Dubbed “Saved by the Box Tops,” the campaign whisks Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tiffani Thiessen, Mario Lopez, and Elizabeth Berkley back to Bayside for a TV spot that celebrates Box Tops’ positive impact on kids’ education over the past three decades. The takeover continues off-screen with retro-inspired packaging on select General Mills products, such as Cheerios and Lucky Charms, and offers families the chance to earn cash for their schools through eligible purchases.
“I’ve always admired Box Tops for Education’s mission and its commitment to supporting students,” Berkley, who played Jessie Spano in both Saved by the Bell and its 2020 reboot, says. “Heading back to the hallways to help a new generation of students access meaningful resources for the year ahead makes being part of Saved by the Box Tops even more special.”
As part of the anniversary celebration, General Mills will also award an extra $10,000 in donations to 30 schools in need across the country. The combined total of $300,000 will go toward funding essential classroom programs and resources throughout the upcoming 2026-27 school year.

“For 30 years, Box Tops for Education has helped schools access critical resources and opportunities to ensure students everywhere are set up for success,” Blake Holman, Senior Director of Brand Building at General Mills, says. “Reaching this milestone is a chance to celebrate everything Box Tops has helped make possible for schools over the years while reminding families how easy it is to give back with the products already in their carts.”
