Following the successful global launch of its Resoftables range of eco-friendly plush, Headstart International is prepping another new toy line that repurposes plastic waste into new playthings.
Recyclings is a full range of collectible toys that are made from 70% recycled plastic. Set to be released in seasons, the first batch includes more than 90 cute and colorful characters that range from hot dogs to race cars, dumplings to dragons, pizza to pandas, ghosts to the infamous avocado, and many more. According to Headstart, each Recycling stops an average of seven plastic bottle caps from going into a landfill based on the average weight of the collectible.
Headstart CEO Andrew Hendy shared on LinkedIn that the company is betting big on Recyclings and its brand message of “Plastic Made Fantastic.” The soft launch includes a music video that hints at animated adventures to come.
“Headstart is proud to be leading the way in toys made from recycled materials and we are not stopping here,” Hendy says. “Recyclings will be an example of a 360-degree brand for us.”
Hendy says that Headstart International is currently seeking broadcast partners to extend its animated content beyond YouTube. Digital partners are already onboard for a companion mobile game for iOS and Android devices.
The Recyclings global rollout begins in January when the line hits Walmart stores across the U.S. Then, the line will hit retail across Australia with partners including Big W, Kmart, Target, Woolworths, and more in February. Recyclings will be distributed by Vivid Goliath in the UK, Imports Dragon in Canada, and Amo Toys in the Scandinavian market.
