The Walt Disney Co. has appointed Lousie Pentland as its new Chief Counsel for the Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products branch, effective Sept. 15. Pentland will report to Horacio Gutierrez, Senior Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, and serve as a strategic advisor to Josh D’Amaro, Chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products and the executive leadership team.
As Chief Counsel, Pentland will be responsible for regulatory and legal matters for the Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products businesses. This includes six theme park-resorts across Asia, Europe, and the U.S., a vacation ownership program, a well-known cruise line, and a guided family adventure business.
Disney’s global consumer products operations, which features a leading licensing business spanning digital games and apps, home goods, toys, and apparel; the shopDisney e-commerce platform; and the company’s children’s print publisher are also within her oversight.
Pentland, who most recently served as Executive Vice President, Chief Business Affairs and Legal Officer at Paypal, has extensive business and legal experience required to fulfill the role. At Paypal, Pentland led the company’s People, Legal, Communications, Intellectual Property, Government Relations, and Social Innovation aspects. She oversaw financial, regulatory, and legal requirements across the globe as well.
