Axiom Space is continuing its mission to explore and expand the final frontier. Last month, the company invited GiGi the Build-A-Bear bear and artist Mumbot’s digital art and plush character Aughostus along for the ride aboard Axiom Mission 3 (Ax-3).

Mumbot is an independent Asian-American artist recently featured as the Designer Toy Award’s “Breakthrough Artist of the Year.” Their apparel and plush are available among retailers such as Hot Topic, BoxLunch, and more. Much of the artist’s work focuses on web3 content.

Offering both an animated digital artwork and a plush character for the Ax-3 mission, Mumbot’s work joined other web3 artists highlighted in Axiom Space’s Space Grails collection. Each artist included in the collection provided physical pieces to join the mission. The artists also partnered with Transient Labs for digital works sold on the Nifty Gateway Platform, a web store focused on NFTs.

The Ax-3 mission represented the first all-European commercial astronaut mission to launch to the International Space Station. The crew included Michael López-Alegría of the U.S. and Spain; Pilot Walter Villadei of the Italian Air Force; and Mission Specialists Alper Gezeravci of Turkey and Marcus Wandt of Sweden and the European Space Agency.

Mumbot is releasing limited edition merchandise celebrating the successful launch. The Aughostus plush toy that joined the Ax-3 mission will be certified by Axiom Space as well as Transient Labs’ latest authentication technology.
