Studio 100 Media GmbH, a subsidiary of family entertainment group Studio 100, has sealed a licensing deal with Turkey’s leading kids’ network, Minika. The newly launched Turkish children’s network has acquired the animation series Woodlies (26 x 24 mins). Created by children’s author Cornelia Funke, renowned for her worldwide bestsellers, including Thief Lord, Inkheart, and Dragon Rider, Woodlies combines adventures with ecological and environmental issues.
The agreement gives Minika free television and VOD rights for the animated series over a five-year period. Targeted at 6- to 11-year-olds, Woodlies is produced by Woodlies Pty, Ltd. in association with Telegael Teoranta, Channel 7 (Australia), and ZDF (Germany). The hybrid series that combines 3-D and 2-D animation is directed by Alex Stadermann, Brad Greenwood, and Alex White.
